What does physiotherapy involve ?
Each patients journey is different and will depend entirely on the nature and severity of the injury and condition.
Below highlights a typical pathway of physiotherapy care.

Initial Consultation
In your consultation, we will ask detailed questions about your condition, including its location, severity, origin, and any relevant medical history. Our goal is to understand your issue thoroughly and develop a treatment plan tailored to your objectives. The relationship between you and your therapist is crucial for management of your condition.

Detailed assessment
A physical examination will be conducted on the affected areas, including palpation and movement. This aims to rule out unrelated conditions and clarify your diagnosis for appropriate treatment options. In some cases, physiotherapy may not be suitable, imaging may be needed, and you'll be advised on the best care pathway.

Treatment
After your diagnosis is confirmed, it will be explained clearly to eliminate any confusion about your condition and the necessary steps for resolution. Treatment options will be discussed, requiring your consent and cooperation. This may include hands-on therapy, massage, stretches, home exercise, taping, movement re-education, postural advice and education.

Home exercise and rehabilitation strategies
Physiotherapy requires hard work and collaboration between the therapist and yourself. You may be need to do some home exercises, make adjustments to your workstation, make use of therapy aids, or apply regimes of ice or heat. These interventions will be demonstrated, discussed and documented for your compliance.

Review and re-assessment

If further sessions are subsequently required, your problem may be reassessed to determine the progress made and further treatment required.

Your exercises may be adjusted or progressed, or further therapy techniques may be utilised to ensure you continue to work towards achieving your goals.

Discharge planning
As your condition improves and your goals are achieved, often it is important to continue exercises or certain self management strategies to ensure long term gains.
Naturally, it is always nice to hear from past patients reinforcing the improvements they have made and the amazing things that they may achieve.
